We have sought to ensure that the character of the new structure represents an interpretation of this important symbolic theme without becoming a “monument”, by designing an architectural plan of radical simplicity. It is essential in nature while at the same time containing within it a multi-faceted landscape, enriched by references both to a larger scale and to its immediate environs.
Memory indeed, is not to be declined as something monolithic, rather it has the dimension of something in the background, with its own multi-form fragility.
It is not one memory but many, infinite memories.. The design we have proposed seeks to interiorise this vision, using it as a kind of substratum to the choice of layout, the organisation of spaces, relations with the existing district , in the belief that memory cannot be represented but only evoked.
