MIOS Fisioperformance is a newly completed facility in Reggio Emilia, Italy, combining fitness, functional rehabilitation, and sports performance within a single integrated environment. Founded by basketball player Nicolò Melli, the center includes a rehabilitation clinic with physiotherapy rooms and medical offices, alongside a technologically advanced gym dedicated to athletic training.
The project redevelops an existing prefabricated industrial building through structural upgrades, energy-efficiency improvements, and a complete spatial reorganization. Its design creates a sequence of interior “landscapes” with varying atmospheres, levels of privacy, and light conditions, supporting users through rehabilitation, training, and recovery.
A bright central gallery functions as reception, lounge, and circulation space, visually connecting the clinic and gym. Lime-colored ceilings and linear lighting introduce a dynamic identity inspired by the center’s branding, blending healthcare and sports aesthetics. Spaces are linked through semi-transparent partitions, glass walls, furniture elements, and indoor vegetation, generating a fluid and permeable environment.
The reception area extends into the gym through three glazed volumes marked by vertical textures reminiscent of muscular fibers, while greenery contributes to a sense of physical and visual well-being. Treatment rooms adopt calm blue-grey tones to create a serene atmosphere, whereas the gym embraces a darker industrial character, with exposed black-painted beams and anthracite flooring emphasizing focus and performance.
A continuous glazed façade along the north side connects the gym with the exterior through planted green filters. At night, the illuminated façade transforms the former industrial building into a contemporary and dynamic architectural landmark.
