The project concerns the conversion of a former rural building in the old town center into a new municipal library, while creating a new cultural center for the town which can provide services and spaces for activities that are intended for the public at large.
The project addresses the needs of visibility, lighting in the rooms and attractiveness of this new structure.
Municipal administration’s requirements were translated into a project that features a contemporary architectural language, expressing a reinterpretation of the architectural “signs” of the context that could, potentially, be striong enough to recreate the symbolic feel of a public building, able to become a place of community meeting and cultural growth.
In line with these considerations, the main entrance was built within the large courtyard the building overlooks, opening up on the main street of the historical center, to enhance the intimate character of this inner square and its future use.
