The new Alessio Artoni Community Centre has opened in Lunetta, Mantova, as a new point of reference for neighbourhood and community life.
The project regenerates a previously built site, formerly occupied by a gymnasium that could no longer be recovered, giving the neighbourhood a new public facility without further land consumption. The new building therefore becomes an opportunity for both urban and social renewal, transforming an underused place into a welcoming, accessible space open to participation.
The centre hosts activities, meetings and events for citizens of all ages, offering modern and flexible spaces for associations, local groups, families, young people and older residents. It will accommodate cultural initiatives, workshops, recreational activities and events open to the neighbourhood.
The inauguration, held on Saturday 13 December in the presence of Mayor Mattia Palazzi, Councillor Nicola Martinelli, Alessio’s family and many residents from Lunetta, marks the return to the city of a new civic and inclusive place dedicated to encounter, social interaction and community life.
